Dan Alexander
Vice President

Dan joined ThompsonBaker in 1991 as a Commercial Lines Account Executive. He became Partner in the firm in 2002 and continues to work with major Commercial clients with a focus on Association Business.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Jacksonville University and holds a 2-20 Property and Casualty and Life, Health, and Annuities insurance licenses from the State of Florida. Additionally, he has earned the designation of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC).

Dan is very active in the community having served on a variety of local boards. He is very active in the Boy Scouts of America, Rotary Club of St. Augustine, St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce (past Chairman), and FAIA Legislative Council (past Chairman). He resides in St. Augustine Beach with his wife and 3 children.

Davis Alexander
Commercial Insurance Account Manager

Davis joined ThompsonBaker in 2015 as a Commercial Lines Administrator. He graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of North Florida and holds a 2-20 General Lines License and a 20-44 Property & Casualty Personal Lines license from the State of Florida. Davis is a volunteer Lacrosse Coach at Pedro Menendez High School and active in Boy Scouts of America (Troop 345 – St. Augustine). He also enjoys being a member of the Florida Lacrosse League Jacksonville Men’s Team.

Matt Baker
President and Chief Executive Officer

Matt joined ThompsonBaker in 1998 and is the second generation of his family in the insurance agency business. He began in the firm’s Personal Lines department and moved into the Commercial Lines department in 2000. He became Partner in the firm in 2002 and assumed the role of President in 2009. In addition to leading ThompsonBaker, he continues to work with major Commercial clients in the areas of Manufacturing, Education, Healthcare, Trade Contracting, and Public Entities.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from the Citadel and holds a 2-20 Property and Casualty license from the State of Florida. Additionally, he has earned the designations of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), and Associate in Insurance Services (AIS).

Matt is very active in the community, having served on numerous local boards including Rotary Club of St. Augustine (past President), Flagler Hospital, St. Augustine Historical Society, Ameris Bank Community Board, St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce, and City of St. Augustine Planning and Zoning Board (past Chairman). He resides in St. Augustine Beach with his wife and two children.

Greg Baker
Chairman

Greg  joined the Agency in 1970  and worked both as an insurance agent and a Realtor with Thompson Bailey.  He  sold both Personal Lines and Commercial Lines insurance and specialized in hospitality risk including motels, restaurants, and tourist attractions. He became a partner in both the real estate company and the insurance agency in 1976.   He became President in1980 (through 2009) and is currently Chairman of the Agency.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Risk Management and Insurance from Florida State University and holds a Masters of Science in Insurance Management from Boston University.  He holds a 2-20 Property and Casualty license from the State of Florida.  Additionally, he has earned the designations of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (CHfC).

Greg is and has been an active part of the St. Augustine Community having served as Mayor of St. Augustine, Chairman of the Flagler Hospital Board, President St. Augustine/St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce , Chairman of the Florida Association of Insurance Agents, and is an active member of the St. Augustine Kiwanis Club.  He is a recipient of the Mitchell Stallings Life achievement award in  the Florida Insurance Industry and most recently he has served as Chairman of the FAIA Good Works Fund; a Philanthropic Foundation supporting Insurance education through Florida State Colleges. Greg resides in downtown St. Augustine with his wife and two Australian Shepherds. He has two adult children and five wonderful grandchildren.

Chelsea Bloom
Commercial Insurance Account Manager

Chelsea joined ThompsonBaker in 2015 as a Commercial Lines Account Manger. Chelsea graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Economics from Flagler College and continued with her Master of Business Administration from University of Florida. She holds both the 2-20 Property and Casualty and 2-15 Life, Health, and Annuity insurance licenses from the State of Florida. Chelsea enjoys running and spending time with family and friends.

Alan Bratic, CFP®
Employee Benefits Account Executive

Alan joined ThompsonBaker in 2000 as a Financial Advisor and Manager of the Financial Services department. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Finance and Economics from Flagler College and obtained his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) certification from Florida State University. Alan is President of the Flagler College Boosters, past President of the St. Augustine Kiwanis and has been honored with Million Dollar Roundtable membership. He is a 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 recipient of the Best of St. Augustine* for Best Financial Planner. Alan resides in St. Augustine with his wife and 3 children.

Personal Insurance Account Manager

Brooke joined ThompsonBaker Agency in 2022, and currently holds a 4-40 Customer Representative License. She graduated in 2018 from Flagler College with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Criminology. While attending Flagler, Brooke played on the Women’s Soccer team all 4 years. In 2020, Brooke graduated from University of North Florida with a Master of Science in Criminal Justice. Brooke has 10 years of customer service experience, along with over 2 years of insurance experience. In her free time, Brooke enjoys going to the gym, beach, and reading.

Tami Devore
Finance Director

Tami joined ThompsonBaker in 2020 as the Director of Finance and Human Resources, bringing with her extensive administrative experience having served in leadership roles in the banking industry, office management and behavioral healthcare. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management, an Associate’s degree in Accounting and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM-SCP). Tami enjoys volunteering in the community and has been a long time participant in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Tami resides in St. Augustine, has three children and one grandson.

Katrina Grantham
Commercial Insurance Account Executive

Katrina has recently joined the ThompsonBaker family as an Account Executive. She is a Florida State University graduate and holds her 2-20 General Lines Property & Casualty license. Katrina has over 20 years’ experience in the retail, manufacturing and service industries building customer relationships through a variety of economic seasons and she is excited to share that skillset with her clients. She is passionate about insurance and helping businesses mitigate their risks. In her hometown of Ocala, she finds joy volunteering at her church and in the community. When Katrina is not working, she loves baking, yoga, sports and spending time with family, friends and dog Jorji.

Kathie Guzman
Commercial Insurance Account Administrator

Kathie joined ThompsonBaker Agency in 2021 as a Commercial Lines Administrator. She brings with her over 22 years of customer service experience and currently holds a 4-40 Customer Service Representative license. Kathie has resided in St. Augustine for 30 years. In her free time she enjoys going to the movies and spending time with her family.

James Guzman
Personal Insurance Account Manager

James, a native of St. Augustine, is very familiar with St. Johns County’s transformations over the last 25+ years. He earned a BA in Communications from the University of Central Florida and loves cheering for his alma mater; Go Knights, Charge On! He is also involved in local sports radio and for the last 14 years, has been the radio play-by-play announcer for St. Augustine High School Football. James earned his 2-20 Property & Casualty license in 2020 and brings over 15 years of experience in customer service to Thompson Baker. In his spare time, James enjoys being outdoors, listening to live music and spending time with his wife and two children.

Hanna Pennington
Personal Lines Account Manager

Hanna Pennington joined ThompsonBaker in 2022 and holds a 4-40 Customer Service Representative license. Hanna earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Marshall University in 2019 and has been working in insurance since she relocated from West Virginia to Florida in 2020. Hanna enjoys cooking, spending time in the FL sunshine and traveling in her free time.

Sherry Petellat
Personal Insurance Account Manager

Sherry joined the Thompsonbaker Agency in 2019. Sherry holds both a 2-20 Property & Casualty and 2-15 agent license. Sherry has over 20 years of experience in the Florida Personal Lines insurance market. She is a native Floridian. Sherry enjoys exploring the east coast and time with her family and two dogs.

Deb Poemmerl
Receptionist

Deb joined ThompsonBaker in 2020. She was born in Panama and lived in New York until relocating to St. Augustine with her husband, John, in 2019. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Math Education, Masters in Special Education, Masters in Urban Missions, a Certificate in Culinary Arts, as well as holding a 4-40 Customer Service Representative license. Communication, organization, and cross-cultural skills developed from thirty plus years as an educator and ministry leader are skills she looks forward to using in this position. Faith, family, friends, and food are all foundational to her. She looks forward to spending time with her husband and family, cooking, watching football, walking on the beach, and one day owning a Harley.

Amber Rideout
Operations Director

Amber joined ThompsonBaker in 2022 as the Director of Operations. She has an extensive background in business and more than 20 years of industry experience. She graduated with a Corporate Master of Business Administration degree from FIU and went on to obtain a Graduate Certificate in Accounting. Additionally, she holds a 2-20 Florida Property & Casualty license with a CISR designation. Amber is passionate about dogs, specifically helping them stay permanently homed with their families and is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer. She currently resides in St. Augustine, FL with her husband and daughter and has a son in Altamonte Springs.
