A few weeks ago, we ushered in a new season by resetting our clocks. Spring, for
some, is a wonderful season. Trees and plants are blooming. The temperature and
humidity are relatively mild, and it marks a fresh start. For others, it is a reminder of
seasonal allergies, spring break, and work that must be done.
You can find common ground and develop a checklist of key points to consider
regardless of where you find yourself on the spectrum. The following acronym touches a
few areas for you to consider.
S – Spring clean the interior of your home by taking inventory of what you have, need, and
want to donate.
P – Prepare or create a maintenance schedule. Think about key appliances that need
servicing, for example, the refrigerator, washer, stove, oven, dryer (especially cleaning the
dryer vent).
R – Review you existing insurance policy or policies. Notify your agent of any changes –
including additions or deletions.
I – Inspect or hire a qualified company to inspect the exterior of your property including the
roof, gutters, and downspouts.
N – Nurture friendships you may have put on the backburner. Send a text, email, place a
phone call, or visit someone. Extend a helping hand to a neighbor who may need
assistance with spring cleaning.
G – Grow with the newness of what is “springing” in you. Explore new hobbies and
adventures that will awaken something new in you.
Remember this season only lasts a few months before we fall back.
