Your auto Insurance protects you against financial loss if you are in an accident. It is a contract between you and your insurance company. You agree to pay the premium and the insurance company agrees to pay if you should be liable according to the terms of your policy.
It is important to understand that auto insurance coverage is threefold. First it provides coverage for damage to your property (damage to or theft of your vehicle); second it covers liability (your legal responsibility to others for bodily injury or property damage) and medical (PIP) for any sustained injuries, rehabilitation or possible lost wages/funeral expenses). In addition to these basic coverages it is also a good idea to cover Uninsured Motorist Coverage (UM) which covers you if you are hurt in an accident with an uninsured driver or hit and run.
There is also additional coverage (UMPD) for property damage caused by an uninsured driver. You can never be too cautious about making sure you are protected on the roads. Did you know that statistics show that 1 in 8 drivers do not maintain the basic minimum coverage required by law? Two additional coverages to consider are Collision, which reimburses you for damage to your car if you are in an accident and it is your fault and Comprehensive, which covers against theft and damage caused by fire, flood, vandalism, falling trees etc. These coverages are not required by law although if the vehicle is financed you may likely be required to have collision insurance.
Insures condominiums that are owned and occupied by policyholder or tenant and also provides coverage for personal possessions and liability.
When you purchase a condominium unit, the condominium association is expected to cover the insurance for the exterior and/or shared areas of the building. However, in order to protect your personal unit and possessions, it is necessary to purchase your own condominium insurance to protect the inside walls, your possessions inside and liability should someone get hurt in your home. Condominium Insurance is called an HO6 policy and covers the condominium unit inclusive of the interior of the unit “walls in”, liability and your personal items which would not be covered by your condominium association policy.
Coverage Options include: Dwelling Coverage; Personal Property; Loss Assessment; Personal Liability; and Loss of Use.
Flooding is a serious risk in Florida due to the state’s geography and proximity to water, both inland and on the coast.
Flood insurance is not usually provided in a homeowner’s policy, so it must be purchased separately. Depending on a home’s location, flood insurance may be mandatory if you carry a mortgage on your home. Florida’s Office of Insurance Regulation has worked to increase the private flood insurance market in Florida and offer more competition in the marketplace. Insurance companies that offer private flood insurance provide only primary or excess flood insurance. Companies may write only a limited number of policies or only certain types of flood policies, such as for high value homes. The coverage can be written as a stand-alone flood policy or as an endorsement onto a homeowner’s policy.
Flood Insurance Writers in Florida
A vast majority of flood insurance coverage is federally regulated and provided through the NFIP, which is administered through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). To qualify for flood insurance, a community must join the NFIP and agree to enforce sound floodplain management standards. When this happens, the residents in that community are allowed to participate in and purchase flood insurance coverage through the NFIP. When it comes to Homeowner’s insurance it is important to specify the type of dwelling you are looking to insure. Typically a homeowner’s policy or HO3 refers specifically to the residential home you own and live in. This type of policy must be occupied by the owner. We also offer coverage for Condominium, additional residential homes you own and rent out to others etc.
Do you know what your policy covers?
Your policy can vary depending on your specific needs. However, the majority of Homeowner policies provide coverage for the building structure, loss of use, personal property and personal liability coverage. Importantly, most policies will require you to schedule personal property separately and will not cover water damage. Flood is not covered by your HO3 policy. You will be required to purchase a separate flood policy.
Your home is one of your largest investments so it should be properly safeguarded with the coverage that reflects the true or accurate value of your home and personal assets in case of a catastrophic event or liability claim.
We can also assist with your 2nd Home or Rental Property Insurance
Rental/Dwelling Fire policies insure a home that is tenant occupied. A DP-3 dwelling policy is the most comprehensive dwelling policy. The difference between the dwelling policy (DP) and the homeowner’s policy (HO) is who lives in the house. A dwelling policy is reserved for residential investment property that you rent to others. It can cover loss to structure, loss of use, loss of rent and personal liability depending on the depth of the policy you choose with the DP-3 being the most comprehensive.

Motorcycle insurance can provide the protection you need for liability coverage, damage to your motorcycle and even bodily injury you can suffer from being in an accident.
This is important because if an accident occurs, the motorcyclist and the motorcycle are more likely to suffer damages. Similar to automobile insurance, you must have motorcycle insurance to drive a motorcycle legally in Florida. Mandatory coverage is PIP which is 10,000 per person and 10,000 per crash in liability. However, it is recommended to expand these limits. Please discuss this in detail with an account representative.
RV insurance also covers many of the similar risks that auto insurance does, including collision, comprehensive and liability coverage. If you drive your RV, rather than tow it behind your vehicle, Florida state law requires you to carry insurance on it.
UMBRELLA & EXCESS LIABILITY INSURANCE
A personal umbrella policy substantially increases your overall liability by providing supplemental coverage over and above what is provided by your existing homeowners, auto and other personal insurance policies.
This is a comprehensive policy, relatively inexpensive and designed to protect you and your family against catastrophic events such as lawsuits, judgments and loss of wages. Unexpected events can happen that are not in our control, please speak with one of our representatives about protecting yourself with an Umbrella policy.
